Transforming Northwestern University in Qatar with Award-Winning Façade Lighting

A Visionary Lighting Concept

The design intent was to illuminate the façade of Northwestern University’s Qatar campus using the university’s signature pantone purple. Given the textured brick surface, a traditional wall-wash approach would have created shadows, affecting the overall aesthetic. To address this, we strategically installed galvanized poles positioned 1–2 meters from the façade, allowing the light to fade in and out smoothly within a 25-second timeframe.

Beyond aesthetics, our lighting solution provides multiple benefits:

The Power of Technology

This project stands out for its advanced lighting technology. Our RGBW luminaires feature a 15,550-lumen output with 70% efficiency, offering up to 1,000,000 color combinations. These IP65-rated, fanless fixtures require minimal maintenance while delivering high-performance illumination.

Additionally, we implemented a DMX wireless system, overcoming the challenge of ensuring seamless connectivity within an existing structure.

Ongoing Maintenance & Future-Proofing

To maintain the integrity of the installation, we established a maintenance contract, including:

• Regular preventive visits to keep lenses clean
• Software updates to ensure the system stays at the forefront of lighting technology
