Workplace safety is a matter of consequence in fast-developing regions such as the UAE. While the country is not typically associated with significant seismic activity, the risk remains sufficient to warrant deliberate preparation, a consideration made more pressing by the fire hazards inherent to a rapidly evolving urban landscape and demanding climate. In response, Oasis Enterprises conducted a comprehensive twin drill exercise addressing both earthquake and fire scenarios, in accordance with Dubai Municipality’s technical guidelines for emergency response.
Led by Keneth Sah, Head of Health and Safety, the exercise extended beyond structural emergencies to include a range of medical scenarios, cardiac events, asthma attacks, burns, lacerations, and poisoning, reflecting a recognition that real emergencies rarely present in isolation.
The drill was designed to evaluate seven distinct dimensions of our emergency response capability:
Preparation began well ahead of the drill itself, with the full scope communicated to all staff to ensure clarity of process and expectation. Oasis Enterprises further sponsored first aid certification for selected employees, who were positioned strategically throughout the office and briefed in advance to serve as first responders should the need arise.
To sustain this standard of readiness, Oasis Enterprises conducts full evacuation drills at least annually, with each exercise’s observations and corrective actions formally documented to inform future planning. This most recent drill reaffirmed a principle we hold central to workplace safety: preparedness, tested and refined over time, remains the most effective safeguard against the unforeseen.
